Coveris has celebrated reaching a safety milestone by making a charitable donation within the Spalding community. Having reached an impressive total of 2,000 days LTI-free (lost time incident) at its site on Enterprise Way in Spalding, UK, employees were awarded £1,000 to donate to a local charity as part of the company’s Paper Business Unit Lost Time Incident Reward Policy.

Recognising their valuable work in the community, Coveris Spalding’s employees nominated The Lighthouse Project Spalding to receive the £1,000 charitable donation. The Lighthouse Project Spalding is a local charity providing social support and housing for homeless or at-risk young people, helping them to transform their lives and move towards a brighter future.

This donation follows a recent Christmas collection for the charity by Coveris’ employees at its two sites in Spalding. Employees generously donated a range of items including food, toiletries, household goods, clothing and toys during the festive period.

Mark Ellis, Coveris Spalding’s Site Manager and Leah Bretten, HR Advisor at Coveris visited The Lighthouse Project Spalding and presented a cheque to its founder, Jenny Tedbury.

Mark Ellis said, “Live safety first is our number one priority and I’m very proud of the continuous efforts of our team at Coveris Spalding who make this happen, every day. 2,000 days LTI-free is an incredible achievement for our business and it’s important we continue this journey for the safety of our people, our site and the products we manufacture. This safety milestone allows us to support the valuable work of The Lighthouse Project Spalding and it was really rewarding to meet Jenny and learn more about the difference being made in the local community.”

Jenny Tedbury, Founder of The Lighthouse Project added, “We are grateful to Coveris for this very kind donation. As a charity providing supported accommodation to young people in South Holland we are not funded by any statutory bodies but depend on donations made by companies and individuals. We are seeing the need for support growing so fast that we can’t keep up. Donations such as these and the amazing gifts Coveris donated at Christmas help us to serve the young people, and in some cases their children, so much better. Thank you very much.”

Coveris supplies packaging for leading brands and retailers; its production site on Enterprise Way is an award-winning manufacturer of linerless labels, primarily for meat, fish and poultry and other food sectors.
